The Devil’s Keel is a high-level route for proven hikers. This circuit is for athletes who like to take on challenges and feel thrills. This adventure is suitable for experiencing hiking in Switzerland. This is a 13 km circuit to be completed in 4 hours. It includes the crossing of the glacier and the neve plateaus, hence the need to be strong and courageous.
On the other hand, halfway through the circuit, hikers can enjoy the beauty of the panorama of the Alps and Mont Blanc, while enjoying cakes in the Prarochet hut. Hiking to Bachalpsee
The hike to Bachalpsee starts from the Grindelwald First cable car station from where you just have to follow the easy signs to Bachalpsee.
There is a slightly steep ascent at the beginning of the trail but after that the trail is quite gentle. The views all along the hike are really incredible. Every few minutes you will surely want to take pictures. Do take a hat with you since there’s no shade along the way and the sun can get really hot.
Once you reach the lake, you can easily relax, picnic and even swim if you’re daring enough to brave the quite chilly water of the mountain lake. Note: Carry along water and food on the hike because there are no restaurants at the top here so . There are toilets available though.
Once you’ve had your fill of the lake (which will take a while!), head back the way you came. If you are feeling more adventurous you can continue walking down towards Bort (one of the intermediate stations on the cable car route from Grindelwald to Grindelwald First), where you can take the cable car back down to Grindelwald.
